Confucious Institute scholarship
In order to support development of Confucius Institutes, facilitate Chinese language promotion and Chinese cultural transmission in the world, cultivate qualified Chinese language teachers and talented students of Chinese language, Confucius Institute Headquarters(hereinafter referred to as CIH) launches the 'Confucius Institute Scholarships' (hereinafter referred to as CIS) program for providing sponsorship to students, scholars and Chinese language teachers of other countries for pursuing a study in relevant universities in China. Dali University is an institution approved by the CIH to accept CIS students, and will continue to accept One-Academic-Year study and One-Academic Study scholarship students in 2020-2021 academic year.
1. Category & Eligibility
An applicant shall be:
a) Non-Chinese citizens;
b) In good physical and mental condition, with good academic performance and conduct;
c) committed to the teaching and international promotion of the Chinese language;
d) Between the ages of 16 and 35 as of September 1, 2020. Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45.
★Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Study
The commence dates of the program shall be referred to the official notices by CIH. The program provides scholarship for a maximum of 11 months. International students currently studying in China are NOT eligible.
I. Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL)
Applicants shall have a minimum score of 270 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required.
II. Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, and Chinese Philosophy
Applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 4) and 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level).
III. Chinese Language Study
Applicants shall have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK test (Level)
★ Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Study
The commence dates of the program shall be referred to the official notices by CIH. The program provides scholarship for a maximum of 5 months. Applicants holding the X1 or X2 visa are not eligible.
I. TCSOL
Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History and Chinese Philosophy
Applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required
II. Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taiji Culture
An HSK test score is required.
2. APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Applicants may log on to the CIH website (http://cis.chinese.cn) to find the information of admission procedures and scholarship recruitment results
● For application, please log on to the CIH website (http://cis.chinese.cn) to register, complete the CIS Application Form online, and upload the scanned copies of relevant supporting documents.
● Once application materials are verified by the Division of Scholarships of CIH as valid, Dali University will then review the eligibility of applicants and submit the admission list to CIH.
● CIH will conduct an overall assessment of all applications and admit applicants on the basis of competitive selection. Normally, the admission results will be announced within 45 working days after the application materials are confirmed as valid.
● Deadline for Applying: June 30, 2020
Dali University will post the Admission Notice, Visa Application Form for Foreigners to Study in China (JW202) and Enrollment Guide to the candidate's recommendation institution.
3. CHINESE BRIDGE AWARD RECIPIENT POLICIES
Chinese Bridge winners who have been awarded the 2019 “Confucius Institute Scholarship Certificate” shall log onto the scholarship website and submit documents to relevant host institutions upon presentation of their CIS certificates. For inquiry, please contact chinesebridge@hanban.org.
4. Scholarship Coverage and Criteria
The CIS provides full coverage on tuition fee, accommodation fee, living subsidies and comprehensive medical insurance expenses.
✔ Tuition fee is under the overall planning and utilization of host institutions to provide teaching, management, Chinese language proficiency tests (HSK/HSKK), and cultural and social activities for scholarship holders
✔ Accommodation fee is under the overall planning and utilization of host institutions which should provide scholarship holders with free dormitory rooms (usually double rooms).
✔ Living subsidy is granted by the Dali University on monthly basis. The subsidy criteria shall be referred to the relevant standard of CIH.
Students who are enrolled before the 15th (or on the 15th) of the registration month, are entitled to the full subsidy of that month, otherwise, are only entitled to half of the subsidy.
✔ Comprehensive medical insurance is purchased by the Dali Univeristy in accordance to relevant regulations on international students stipulated by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China. The insurance fee per person is RMB800 per year.
✔ The One-Academic-Year Study and One-Semester Study programmers are able to attend Chinese language proficiency test before graduation. Test fee is reimbursed by Dali University.
5. Disclaimer
● Incomplete or unqualified applications will not be processed
● Applicants will be disqualified from application in case of fraudulent application materials
● Scholarship holders who cannot register within the deadline issued on Admission Notice should inform the Dali University about the reasons in written form within 15 days before. For those who do not register as requested without reasons, the scholarship will be canceled.
● Scholarship will be canceled for those who do not pass the admission physical examination, drop out, or take schooling suspension during the study
